Content of a monthly report

Data shall be included in the report related to the month in which the samples are collected/sampled even if the samples are analysed later. To avoid double reporting it is recommended to report only final results.

If a case is referred to the EURL for further testing, the case/s can already be included in the monthly report to EFSA without knowing the final result of the analyses performed by the EURL. In this case, the data provider can send to EFSA the evaluation performed at country level and, if it is not possible to assess the type of TSE, the case should be entered provisionally as Pending, a term that has been made available since TSE tool version 2.0.0. The term Pending is only supposed to be used in exceptional cases. Once the final results from the EURL are available, the data provider must update the related monthly report declaring the case positive or revert to negative status. A monthly report which contains one or more pending cases cannot be considered as definitive.

If the RC considers the final results of confirmatory and/or discriminatory tests not conclusive, the final status of the case can be reported as Inconclusive. (Please not that in versions of the TSE tool up to 1.3.7, there was no differentiation between inconclusive and pending cases and only the term Inconclusive was available).
