History

UpdatEngine client and server was originally written by Yves Guimard. He had to stop his participation in the project in July 2017. Since version 2.1.1 of 2014, there was not much evolution for the server part and this repository has no other pretensions than to try to improve the functionalities. Thanks to Yves, to the developers who participated and still participates as well as to the users.

Install latest stable

A Debian/Ubuntu installation script is located in the 'install' folder. Customize your settings in this file (Installation directories, URL, database, SMTP...) and run it !

The script automaticaly update the python settings, the apache.conf and create auto-signed SSL certfificat.

LibreOffice 64bits (Installation executed in user session and may be postpone)

Features

This package is a silent installation if there is no previous version or if there is no open user session.
Else it prompts the user with a Window asking to install or cancel. After the countdown delay the installation start.
If cancelling then UpdatEngine-client will check and ask again on next inventory.

Overall: Create package file

1. Create a working folder LibreOffice_6.2.8_Win_x64

2. In that folder put the files LibreOffice_6.2.8_Win_x64.msi, ExecAs.exe, setup_auto.exe

3. Create setup_auto.ini file:

4. Generate the encrypted installation command to hide admin login/password from users in the package:

   In a Windows shell go to your working directory and execute:

   ExecAs.exe -c -r -uADMINUSER -pPASSWORD -dNTDOMAIN -w setup_auto.exe
   

   Or you can also create a batch e.g. admin_cmd_encrypt.bat and double-click it:

   Then simply do [CTRL+V] in a window text (notepad) to paste and keep the result. Indeed, 'ExecAs -c' copies encrypted command to the clipboard ;)

5. Create install.bat and paste the above encrypted string:

   icacls "%temp%\updatengine" /grant *S-1-1-0:(OI)(CI)(RX)
   ExecAs.exe -i -w -h ExecAs.exe PASTE_HERE_THE_ENCRYPTED_COMMAND
   

   The user must be able to access to the temporary directory to execute msi file that's why 'icacls' is used.

6. Remove admin_cmd_encrypt.bat if it exists for not providing the administrator password in the package!

7. Compress your working directory in the package file LibreOffice_6.2.8_Win_x64.zip.
   Be sure that all files are in root dirctory of this zip file else the commands would be for example 'LibreOffice_6.2.8_Win_x64\install.bat' and 'msiexec /i LibreOffice_6.2.8_Win_x64\LibreOffice_6.2.8_Win_x64.msi'
