Free Stuff for Developers

A handy list of tools and services with generous free allowances

Search from Algolia

Algolia can provide fast and easy search for your website. The Laravel documentation is a great example of it in action. Their free tier allows you to store 10,000 items and perform 100,000 operations each month.

Messaging by Twilio

Although strictly a paid service, Twilio's generous free trial merits its inclusion in this list. They offer $30 worth of non-expiring credits without any need to enter payment details, and this can be used across their range of services which includes SMS messaging.

DNS from NS1

ns1 is a DNS provider with 22 points-of-presence (POPs), and ultra-low global response times.

They offer 50 DNS records and 500,000 queries per month for free.

Email from Zoho

Zoho is a suite of applications aimed at businesses, and their ad-free email service is generally well-regarded.

For free you can host one domain name and create up to 25 email accounts with 5GB of storage each.

Error Capture from Rollbar

Rollbar is a service for capturing exceptions from your application. Supports iOS, Java, JavaScript, PHP, and more.

Their free tier includes 5,000 events per month, 30 days of retention, and unlimited users and projects.

Payments by Braintree

Braintree is a payment gateway by PayPal.

There are no monthly fees, and the first $50,000/£30,000 you process is completely fee-free.
