Control Your VOLUME by Humming Musical Notes: Do-Re-Mi ~ 👽 🎶 📣

So-Bad-Volume-Control

Description

Live Demo here! 🚀

Have you ever tried to control volume by calling Alexa, Siri or even Google Assistant to change volume for you? How about using your music talent to hum, whistle correct musical notes to adjust volume?

When you can hum musical notes "Do", you can adjust volume to the scale #0 which is the least volume, aka mute. When you can make a musical note to "Ti", you can make the loudest sound. 🎹

Last but not least, I know this is fairly tough to control volume because of music is playing at the same, people are talking all around...Well, I hope you enjoy the worst design for volume control and get some inspiration for the future Human-Alien-Interstella-Interface design.

Notes

  1. Please allow us to use your microphone just for controlling volume, I promise
  2. Pitch recognition is based on 5KHz signal
  3. Find anything strange, wrong, please reload your page, or clone to fix it! ✊
  4. Only tested on following browsers on computers
  • (success) Chrome Version 63.0.3239.132 (Official Build) (64-bit)
  • (failed) Safari Version 11.0.3
  • (ok)Firefox 58.0.1 (64-bit)

Known Issue

  1. NOT fully support for Safari because of this method: getByteTimeDomainData(dataArray) Web Audio API, dont' have enough time to solve this, but check here for reference
  2. Audio on Firefox (58.0.1 (64-bit) appears to be only on mono channel
  3. Not so responsive website
  4. There are potential issues because of multiple running instance for microphone access, e.g. open more than two pages on one computer, running other application (quickTime) to use microphone at the same time. Solution may need to restart your computer.
