Installing

The recommended way to install the PWAsForFirefox project is by downloading the extension from the Firefox Addon Store and following in-browser instructions that will open when the extension is installed. This page describes the recommended installation process in detail. For other ways of installation (including using package managers, manual installation, or building from source), check the READMEs for the native program and the browser extension in the repository.

1. Make sure you are using the latest Firefox version (or the latest Firefox ESR version). This extension will probably also work with older versions, however, only the latest is officially supported/targeted.
2. Download the latest version of the extension from the Firefox Addon Store.
3. Once the extension is installed, a new page with setup instructions should automatically open. If it does not, click on the extension widget.
4. Read and accept the license agreement.
5. The extension also needs an additional native program to function correctly. Read the installation instructions provided by the extension for your operating system and wait until it is detected. If it is not detected after some time, restart your browser and reopen the setup page.
6. The extension also needs to install the unmodified Firefox runtime and modify it locally. You can do this from the setup page and wait until it is finished.
7. The extension is now ready to be used!
