No, don't take it the wrong way but it's not written anywhere, how should I do this? People interested in this type of recipe are often people who don't know much about the thing accomplished by the recipe and therefore need to be guided step by step. We try for all recipes to be self-configured. If there are prerequisites, it would be good to document them (example: recipes/istio-gateway/README.asciidoc#prerequisites). One additional question: isn't Fleet Server the way to go today to deploy the Agent rather than using standalone?
