This repo seems to be simply abandoned. Last commit was in 2021. So I'd suggest just stop using it in your software.

@slonopotamus This library is still used as part of https://github.com/moby/moby though. I'd like to hope it's not abandoned, just not as frequently updated.

We resolved some regressions in this repository (which were a blocking issue for new releases); it looks like this PR needs a rebase now though.
