Miguel Tomas Silva

(theScientist)

Miguel, an experienced professional in scientific research and smart technology solutions, adeptly combines hardware and software expertise, with a track record of successful remote team management spanning four years. Since 2018, Miguel moderated Slack, WhatsApp, and LinkedIn groups, where he provided valuable advice and mentorship to individuals and organizations. His most recent achievement can be found here, on his GitHub profile with more than 200 repositories spanning more than 10 years, complemented with conventional, easy to navigate, and intuitive webpages about open scientific research, open prototyping, and open innovation from a simple concept in a doodle to a fully matured minimum viable product. In 2021 he moved, permanently, all his scientific research data to publicly accessible repositories stored as dataverses hosted on the servers at Harvard University.

He has a 5-year bachelor's in civil engineering. A 2yr master in smart carbon fiber composites. A second master in machine learning and artificial intelligence. More than 30 years of experience in computer science and programming. More than 5 years in hardware electronics design, fabrication, and assembly. In 2024 and 2025 he will be up-skilling to mechatronics in particular intelligent machines. His LinkedIn, Twitter, and Stack Overflow profiles showcase achievements and contributions.

S.D.A.D - Smart Data Acquisition Device

An innovative method for experimental data acquisition and management of collected data in real-time and is compatible with any open environment. The proposed prototype for a smart DAQ device has the minimum hardware characteristics to handle data measurements collected from sensors locally connected to it, store it on a local CSV or SQLite database file, and finally connect and synchronize data measurements collected with a data repository hosted remotely. For instance a Dataverse or Zenodo. Titled "Validation of Experimental Data Origins: A Swarm of DAQ devices able to Deliver Unique Experimental Data using Blockchain‐like Fingerprint ID to a Data Repository". Visit my open science projects to find out more about his ongoing scientific works.

Open Hardware Electronics for Autonomous Vehicles

The overall objective of this open project is to extend the life of vehicles by updating them to current EU standards namely safety regulations and emission pollutants. As so vehicles undergo a process of refurbishment service and full-featured overhaul of technology updates from mechanical key components to the interior habitacle, comfort, and safety of a vehicle. Branded Auto RFTI™ (refurbishment, facelift, and technology improvements) goes a step further than just a vehicle facelift and will differentiate by offering simple & easy hardware electronics and components for extending vehicle utilization life by means of technology upgrades to improve safety while at the same time reduce vehicle emissions. To do the design and prototype of each individual module I'm using a Volvo P2.

"Still.... even if it is not easily possible ...it will definitely going to be AWESOME running a [old] car
that will meet the latest EURO emissions except on the pink slip"

Discord Server of Speeduino 02-02-2024

To learn more, go to the project "Open Hardware Electronics for Volvo P2 platform". Currently designing an OPEN Rear Electronic Module using KiCad EDA. Other noteworthy projects He has been working on, include "NVidia's Jetson nano SoM" where one can find research and prototype work for an "autonomous eCargo Bike"; an "open vacuum cleaner" and an open "conversational pod".
