Rationale

For the URC 2024, the Autonomous Navigation Challenge requires the capability of detecting two objects: a orange rubber mallet and a 1 L wide mouth water bottle of unspecified color/markings.

Required Actions

  • Research object detection algorithms
  • Demonstrate a proof of concept for detecting the objects
  • Integrate with ROS

Sprint 1 (Monday Oct 23):

  • Take multiple photos of mallet and waterbottle for data set
  • Find proper annotation tool
  • Annotate images and make dataset
  • Resize, normalize, and augment the dataset for improved training
