MERN Stack Chat Application

This is a chat application built using the MERN (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) stack.

Getting Started

To run this application locally, follow the steps below:

  1. Clone the repository by running the following command: git clone https://github.com/RAHUL956777/whatsapp.git

  2. Change into the project directory: cd whatsapp

  3. Start the server:

  • Change to the server directory:
    cd server
    
  • Install dependencies:
    npm install
    
  • Start the server:
    npm start
    
  1. Start the client:
  • Change to the client directory:
    cd client
    
  • Install dependencies:
    npm install
    
  • Start the client:
    npm start
    
  1. Open your web browser and navigate to http://localhost:3000 to access the chat application.

This is a Next.js project bootstrapped with create-next-app.

Getting Started

First, run the development server:

npm run dev
# or
yarn dev
# or
pnpm dev

Open http://localhost:3000 with your browser to see the result.

You can start editing the page by modifying pages/index.js. The page auto-updates as you edit the file.

API routes can be accessed on http://localhost:3000/api/hello. This endpoint can be edited in pages/api/hello.js.

The pages/api directory is mapped to /api/*. Files in this directory are treated as API routes instead of React pages.

This project uses next/font to automatically optimize and load Inter, a custom Google Font.
