Magnet Winding Jig Overview

The purpose of this project within the scope of the OS-MPI project is to facilitate the production of electromagnets. The reason we choose to publish this jig of the many which are involved in the process of building up the small bore imager and MPS system is that this one is highly versatile and scalable. The plans in the Jig's repository are designed to handle winding the electromagnets for our human-scale imager, but by replacing the coil formers (Part No. 4-13xx) it is equally capable of winding the coils for our small-bore imager, or whatever arbitrary magnet shape you choose to employ. The cost saving when making magnets in-house are substantial and further, it allows for magnets to be repaired or given more turns without needing to go through commercial channels.
