The description for configuring the connection string in the app settings was fixed. Only adding the the braces without putting it in a section will not work.

Thank you for reaching out to us! We appreciate your interest in improving our documentation.

We don't know if introducing a nested structure like the suggested "AzureMonitor": {"ConnectionString": ""} will be recognized by the Java agent and we won't be able to provide a timely update to the suggestion here. Please continue directly setting connectionString at the root of the JSON configuration file. If that isn't working, then please create a support ticket. Our support team is available to assist you with any questions or issues you may have. You can create a support ticket by visiting the following link: https://azure.microsoft.com/support/create-ticket/ Once you have received assistance from our support team, we would be happy to document per recommendations from a support engineer. #please-close
