To improve the functionality of werf and to advance it in line with user expectations, we need to know precisely how our tool is used. Unfortunately, it is impossible to get high-grade feedback by other means (polls, chat discussions, etc.), which is why many software developers (including those working on Open Source projects with similar functionality) use automated means to collect such statistics.
We have been avoiding this topic for a long time, but we cannot postpone it any longer.
Details
We made sure that anonymous usage data is collected as transparently as possible for the user: you can disable it, view the data transmitted, and even activate persistent logging. The source code of this feature is open and available for everyone to review.
Currently, this feature is disabled by default. On August 8th, it will be enabled by default in the alpha channel (if you don't disable it by setting a corresponding environment variable). This change will come to the rock-solid until the end of August.
The official documentation sheds light on how it works, what data is transmitted, and how to manage this feature.
