Thank you for providing this example. Is it actually necessary to wrap it in a ref? For me it also works perfectly fine without.
I'm using this to assign unique element IDs inside a component is used in multiple places. Is this okay to do or would there be a best practice for this?

In Options API the uid can be accessed from this.$.uid.

this.$ refers to InternalComponentInstance, which has uid.

In Composition API same works with getCurrentInstance().uid.

But uid is internal, not a public property.
