Thanks. These are indeed known (particularly the kostya benchmarks), but the V implementations are not yet built well / optimized in comparison to competing languages' implementations. There is some discussion about this elsewhere, including in Discord if you search for kostya.

First of all, I think you do not get enough credit for the amazing language Vlang is. Thank you for your time and effort.

I was citing the author of this discussion, I do not really have an opinion on V being built well or not.

Being production-ready or not implies that you think the language has reached a certain maturity level.

So my Q is: do you think that is the case today? If not, when would you expect tgat to be the case? v0.5, 1.0?

I'd say V is very well built. It's going to be even better with 0.5, when we re-write some hard to maintain legacy code.

And with the 0.4 release, I'd say it's safe to use in production. Maybe don't write a stock market in it just yet (wait for 1.0 for that :) ).

It very much depends on how you view and use things.
I have a project that has been running nine to five, (the "working hours") everyday since 2019, written in V:
https://github.com/Larpon/tipsy/commits/master for me this is stable enough, since it has not crashed and has done it's job perfectly each day. It may not be what others define as stable but I do. It all depends. 🙃

The fact that V can interface C code makes it good enough for whatever you want,
you can reuse the mature C ecosystem.
Maybe you can do a stock market if you choose some good C libraries to wrap,
if V is stable enough to do that, everything else is secondary

As far as the kostya benchmarks... I tried to get them to run yesterday. Everything there (and I mean everything, for every language) is so out of date it couldn't build the docker image to be able to run the tests. That tells you how relevant the numbers are on that page.
