Worst colors for colorblind people #178
Comments
100%. I've often wondered how it is that often it's hard to differentiate the 2nd, 3rd, and sometimes other extra alternatives that are being shown. Adding search term: "accessibility", and a thought on how to improve. I've often seen it suggested for web accessibility to not rely on color as the only way to convey info. A possible improvement could be that when you hover over a legend item, that item changes (e.g. a border around it) and the chart updates such that the selected item is highlighted as well (in a way that's apparent without relying on color). Below, the mockup shows a black border around both the legend item and the chart area. This could also be a benefit to non-color-blind people, like in the example below where many of the less popular items are shown so close together they may obscure each other; imagine not needing to see the line because you would see the dot point highlighted. |
It's impossible for me to tell the difference between that choice of red and green.
