Startship uses nerdfonts characters - how to default for TTY

I tried searching and failed (probably my fault and probably well documented to boot).

Is there a way to default so when TTY terminal is used, the bash terminal shows a different output. I am using nerdfonts for iconography which jacks up TTY since it doesnt accept glyphs. Im hoping i can set my toml to show an icon in some cases but text in others
