Bottom nav title text cut off/crowded

Hello, on certain phones the bottom nav title text is cut off. Is there a way around this?

For example, my middle button's title is "Today's Workout." On all of the newer/higher end phones I've tested on, the bottom nav spaces itself accordingly and you can see the full text. When it's cut off it'll look like "ay's Worko", being cut off on both sides.

But on some phones, instead of the bottom nav pushing the adjacent items out of the way, it just cuts off the text.

It's possibly API 21 that has the issue but I'm not 100% sure yet

It's not just API 21. We can confirm this on API 19 and API 27 as well.
