I found out about this project a little while ago and I'm considering using it as a replacement for Overleaf for a project I'm working on. My colleague has experience using LaTeX on the platform but the two of us are struggling to make the UI easier to use. I have a couple of issues that I'm trying to resolve here and I'm curious about how to fix them:

  • When using VSCode on my computer for this Codespace, hitting Ctrl + S doesn't generate a PDF and place it on the side of my editor
  • All of my files end up using some resources from preamble.sty and I want to place the file in one folder and access it in each subfolder without copying and pasting the file to each Unit X Assignments folder. Is this possible?
  • This isn't too big of a deal but is there a way to get rid of the other files used while building the PDF to make things cleaner?

The project's available at mrgarbagegamer/GEL if you can take a look; I like the features and collaborative abilities of WebLaTeX but I'm having trouble just simplifying things so we can easily use it for our purpose.

"When using VSCode on my computer for this Codespace, hitting Ctrl + S doesn't generate a PDF and place it on the side of my editor" I met the sam problem.

Moreover, it will not be automatically generated when I am typing in .Tex file
