When I started my career, and looked across the mess of contradictory systems and mindless busywork of pushing data in and out of all of them, I thought that with some more effort, we could end up with a single, conceptually pure model for all the data flowing round a business, and life would be great.
But now, I don't think that's the case at all. Here I try to set out why.
As Princess Leia said, "The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers."
