Variables / $HOME in hatch config

Hello @ofek and others,

I am just getting started with hatch, and was intending to share the basic hatch config across several computers. For that to work properly I'd like to specify some of the paths more dynamically, i.e. use the user's home folder as a path spec. In the documentation/context-formatting it is mentioned that this seems to be possible (however, it is not entirely clear to me which of the configs do 'declare support for context formatting').
Up to now I tried setting the data dir (dirs.data) and dirs.cache using: "${HOME}/.local/share/hatch", "{home}/.local/share/hatch" and "{env:HOME}/.local/share/hatch" - but none of those seem to work, as 'hatch new' results in e.g. the folder '${HOME}' in the current directory.

Is there a way to specify a path dynamically in the config?

No way yet, but you could set the CLI's top-level env vars https://hatch.pypa.io/latest/cli/reference/
