Why is short_name required

I made my app with PWA builder a while ago but it doesn't work anymore. the "Package for stores" button is a short_name. Why do I need a short_name? non of the browsers require it. the spec doesn't require it. Is there a way to bypass this requirement and build my app anyway? In my opinion, this is a regression. |

short_name is using for apps drawer, springboard and etc, to use compact name in this cases. Technically yes, it's not required, and this rule can be changed. |
