Google analytics tracking IDs of the format G-XXXXXXXXXX don't work

@robertsmd I was curious about this too — any specific errors you're seeing with this or it's just not sending any data to your GA 4 dashboard?

This library uses Google's Measurement Protocol API. Support for GA 4 on that API is still in Alpha https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/protocol/ga4/sending-events
We'll update the library when the API support is more stable. In the mean time you can follow the steps at the bottom this page to find/create a Universal Analytics tracking ID for your account and use that https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/9539598?hl=en

Any plans about supporting GA4, now that the end of life for Universal Analytics has been communicated?

GA4 is out of Alpha, but still in Beta. They do claim that they don't expect Alpha to have any breaking changes, so I think that's a positive sign that anything we develop now won't break (or won't break too badly).

We'll have to find a way to support both concurrently until the actual switchover on 1 July 2023
