Booting from an EFI system? #225
-
Hi! I have a question. I'm using penguin-eggs on an ubuntu 22.04 system to create a bootable ISO which I'm intending to use to install a bunch of machines that are coming in (hardware identical) with all our dev tools etc, however, when I create a USB stick from the ISO (ubuntu disks or startup disk creator) I get an EFI unsigned error. It looks like it should work, but I'm not able to boot the system. Do I need to turn off secure boot in order to use this? I'm wondering if other people have used secure boot enabled systems before, because if so then I'll keep trying to figure it out, but if not... I won't :) This looks like an awesome project, I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops! Thanks! Cheers, Jack |

Hi Jack, Yes, You must turn off secure boot. As far as I know it is a common problem of most distributions, among those I have tried only Debian and Ubuntu can be used without disabling secure boot. Another case is a remastering Ubuntu done with Cubic, which by not modifying vmlinuz and initrd.img, leaves the system compatible with secure boot. |
