One should be able to pinch-zoom the image.

I would like to contribute, but I need some infos about where to start or where to put this implementation.

You can go to src and update script.js for javascript or template.html for your template. Run yarn dev to start development.

Was the ability to zoom ever added?

It's added, but not updated the version to NPM.
