Description
Sometimes scanned documents can be huge. When I need to upload them there are often restrictions to the file size.
Paperless-ngx offers at the moment two options to download a document: download and download original
It would be great if paperless-ngx would offer additional options to download a document like:
download low-resolution / screen
download medium-resolution / ebook
download normal-resolution / print
This resizing could be realized e.g. using ghostscript (this is at least how I am doing it manually on Ubuntu):
gs -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -dCompatibilityLevel=1.4 -dPDFSETTINGS=/ebook
-dNOPAUSE -dQUIET -dBATCH -sOutputFile=output.pdf input.pdf
https://ghostscript.readthedocs.io/en/latest/VectorDevices.html#controls-and-features-specific-to-postscript-and-pdf-input
-dPDFSETTINGS=configuration
Presets the “distiller parameters” to one of the following predefined settings:
/screen selects low-resolution output similar to the Acrobat Distiller (up to version X) “Screen Optimized” setting.
/ebook selects medium-resolution output similar to the Acrobat Distiller (up to version X) “eBook” setting.
/printer selects output similar to the Acrobat Distiller “Print Optimized” (up to version X) setting.
/prepress selects output similar to Acrobat Distiller “Prepress Optimized” (up to version X) setting.
/default selects output intended to be useful across a wide variety of uses, possibly at the expense of a larger output file.
This would save me the manual step to resize the pdfs depending on usage.
