Autocapitalization, autopunctuation, and autocorrect not working on Markdown field on iOS Safari

Problem

The iOS features of autocapitalization, autopunctuation, and autocorrect are not working when authoring Markdown (which is the input field for Blog posts and Pages) .

I took a recording of the behavior below.

Some context for this ticket: I'm on a search for a "good" editor experience for Markdown. I'm taking notes over on directus/directus#16762, which includes a link to a spreadsheet where I'm evaluating various Markdown editors and CMSs.

I have not yet found a CMS that supports autocorrect, autocomplete, and autopunctuation on a Markdown input. Here are related issues:

• Directus: Autocapitalization, autopunctuation, and autocorrect not working on Markdown field on iOS directus/directus#16690
• Ghost: Autocorrect, autopunctuation, and autocapitalization not working on iOS Safari TryGhost/Ghost#16049

However, there are editors that support this feature (see spreadsheet on the Directus discussion linked above).

Worth noting is that I discovered TinyMC itself has an issue, as noted on this comment: directus/directus#16699 (comment), and based on the documentation TinyMCE is used by pagekit (though I didn't see where that was in the code yet).
