It can be frustrating to encounter outdated or insecure connectors when working with SQL databases in Node.js. The lack of an up-to-date and secure connector for a common database like MySQL can be surprising. However, there are a few things you can explore to address this issue:
If you'd like, I can also help you explore other database options or provide more information on using TypeScript for database interactions. Just let me know how you'd like to proceed! |

It can be frustrating to encounter outdated or insecure connectors when working with SQL databases in Node.js. The lack of an up-to-date and secure connector for a common database like MySQL can be surprising. However, there are a few things you can explore to address this issue: Community Solutions: Sometimes, the best solutions come from the community. You might want to explore community-maintained connectors or packages that provide secure and up-to-date support for MySQL in Node.js. Alternative Databases: If you're open to it, you might consider exploring alternative databases that have well-supported and secure connectors for Node.js. For example, PostgreSQL has a robust and well-maintained connector for Node.js. Using TypeScript: As the npm page for mysqlx suggests, using TypeScript might be a viable option. TypeScript is a superset of JavaScript that adds static type definitions, which can provide better tooling and error checking for your database interactions. Feedback to the Community: If you're unable to find a suitable solution, consider providing feedback to the community, such as on GitHub or developer forums. This can help raise awareness of the issue and potentially prompt the development of better connectors. If you'd like, I can also help you explore other database options or provide more information on using TypeScript for database interactions. Just let me know how you'd like to proceed! |

Hello, I'm working a bit with a sql database, and I found simply atonoshing not being able to find a connector for nodejs. The mysql thingy is outdated (doesn;t support sha2 connection). In the official docs they say to use mysqlx (with xprotocol), but on the npm page of this package they say that it's outdated as well, and just use typescript.
Is there something I'm missing? How is possible that there is no up to date/secure connector for such a common DB?
