Update PATH at container creation

Is there a better way to update PATH at container creation? I am currently using postCreateCommand to use a simple export command.

I tried using

remoteEnv: {
    "PATH": "$PATH:/flutter/bin"
}

But that kept producing an error about sleep not found causing container failure.
