I recently attempted to revive one of my old projects that originally used TS Node for starting the server. However, during this process, I encountered an error. While searching on Stack Overflow for potential solutions, I discovered a library called TSX. Although it’s not entirely new, it was unfamiliar to me. Surprisingly, when I used TSX, my code ran seamlessly, and the experience was even better than with TS Node.
Now, I’m curious about the popularity of TSX. It appears to have approximately 2,000,000 weekly downloads, which is quite substantial for a library. This leads me to wonder: What went wrong with TS Node? Has something changed? Working with TS Node has always been challenging due to the need to adjust various configurations, SDN settings, and the package.json file just to make TypeScript files (.ts) function correctly.
