Port forwarding password prompt

I recently changed the user in codespace Dockerfile to root in order to install asdf and some other packages which would not work otherwise. Now, everytime I start a codespace, there is a password prompt. Has anyone else seen this? Is there a way to avoid this?

I have this same problem and it is driving me buggy!
I am using the default vscode user, not root

I added

        "remote.autoForwardPorts": false,

to the .vscode settings.yml file AND

  "customizations": {
    "vscode": {
      "settings": {
        "remote.autoForwardPorts": false,

to the devcontainer.json config file

AND I also added:

"forwardPorts": [],

to the devcontainer.json config file

and it still pops up everytime I rebuild or even reload.

Someone, please help!

Hmmm, ok so after I changed the configs, I still had to delete the port forwards manually.
I guess once they are created, they persist regardless of the config.

Not expected behaviour, I would think, since I chose to do a 'full rebuild'

Now when I rebuild they are not recreated, and the password prompt went away.
But this is an added step that I think would be counterintuitive after I modified the codespace devcontainer config as such

Your thoughts on that, codespaces team?
