I've been considering a few different designs that consume a fuel for non-thrust purposes that changes the mass of the vehicle throughout the flight. You could also have boil-off of cryogenics, coolant release, ballast, etc. that could all change the mass of the vehicle in flight.
Describe the solution you'd like
I'd like the mass component to have an option for scheduled mass changes. Maybe it's a mass vs time in a csv. Maybe it's tied to an event (though this is less necessary as there are workarounds for events.)
Describe alternatives you've considered
I've created near-zero thrust motors but this has a few problems. Namely you can't actually make a truly zero thrust motor or else it gets rejected.
I've also considered stages but as far as I can tell there isn't a clean way to do this that doesn't impact aerodynamics in some other way. It also doesn't allow for continuous mass changes.
Additional context
The motor changes the mass of the vehicle as it runs out of fuel. So there's already some part of the codebase that can handle this.
