@backl1n try run script file hacker-quotes.plugin.zsh with debug mode by below command, check the output:

(set -x; source hacker-quotes.plugin.zsh)

# run without debug mode
source hacker-quotes.plugin.zsh

and pls post the debug mode output content for troubleshooting. ❤️
