Frontend authentication combinators

#139 added authenticated vessel data structures and some basic ways of processing them. Notably missing are helpers for handling authentication on the frontend. It's not yet clear what the best ways to structure authentication code are yet but patterns will emerge and then we will want to enshrine those patterns in the library.
