How to set layout when using nuxt-i18n?

Environment

Using nuxt 2.12.2

Reproduction

Create a page which specifies i18n paths, and set the layout explicitly in the same page too. (ignores the layout: 'customLayout' setting)

Describe the bug

Not sure it's a bug as such, perhaps just a limitation.

Normally setting the layout: "customLayout" on the page level properties, sets the layout to be used.

However where i18n Paths are specified on the page level, this property seems to be ignored.

I've created a layout 'error.vue' (lives next to default.vue in the layouts folder) but it gets ignored when specifying it as follows:
