As alluded to by @harishv7

Not exactly sure about the horizontal / zig-zag layout. I naturally found myself expecting a vertical layout. For example, in Friday Hacks, the events are in ascending order of date from left to right. Under Articles, the left-most side contains the latest article.

Article blurbs are presented in chronological order in a zig-zag fashion.

Proposed solution: We can limit it to just a single row of 3 blurbs so that it reads more naturally.
