Description

problem:
image
in portrait mode monitor setups, it cuts off the categories.

3 possible solutions:

  1. favorite and easiest solution for now: add shortcut similar to f, that hides calendar instead.

  2. please decrease the space on the left if girok detects words are getting cut off

  3. add option for making side bar a bottom bar

Purpose

to better be able to see categories with smaller screen widths

Thanks for reporting the issue!

  1. As you said this would be the easiest for now.
  2. Do you mean the left margin (left of the book icon?)
  3. It's hard to visualize how to place a recursive category tree at the bottom. Do you have any suggestions?

Meanwhile, what do you think of offering a "pop-up" category tree upon pressing a specific key (left sidebar will be hidden)?

  1. yes, left margin
  2. yeah, might not be a good idea.it would have to scroll, and the tags and categories would have to be side by side. dont do this one.
  3. the pop-up could also be a better option than a tree at the bottom. maybe a setting to default it to that setup. but for first time users, i still think the way you have it is better because new users wont know to look for the popup initially if it starts off hidden. like the popup idea.

One other thought is if you had two popups, one for tags and one for categories, which would be less clunky than having a side panel and then having to switch between it for super users, and I would make it so opening one automatically closes the other. 'c' for categories and 't' for tags would be nice. in fact, this would be my ideal setup, especially if I had a way to hide the sidebar in a settings as a default.
