I can’t seem to be able to google my way to the solution.
In the YAML frontmatter on posts, the header images and overlay settings are subkeys of Header. Prose.io (headless CMS editor for jekyll) only supports key pairs, not subkeys in its config.
I’m guessing the only way to solve this is in the layout or on a post with liquid.
Create my own frontmatter pair for “feature_image” and use this kind of code:
