TypeError: Cannot read property 'nodeType' of null

Whenever I try to turn a highlighted section into code I receive this error. All of the other buttons in the toolbar seem to work without a problem. I'm very, very new to programming so I'm not sure how I should go about fixing this.

unfortunately, this is a known bug, but I believe that it will not be seen on a production apps
