Full-screen images should always be displayed on a dark background

I use Metatext with Light appearance which I prefer to the Dark one with one exception: when I display an image in full-screen, the image is shown on a light, almost white background, which looks pretty bad.

Would it be possible to always display full-screen images on a dark, preferably black background no matter which appearance mode is used (light or dark)? Most other applications I've seen do it like that, because the light background just doesn't look very good.
