This might simply be running the unit tests in the LFE project and running rebar eunit in all ./lib/* projects.

Sorry I am slightly confused. Which developers do you mean, the ones of the LFE project or the users of LFE and and its supporting systems? I personally think that the LFE eunit, and common test, tests are really only for the LFE developers not its users. We shouldn't release anything that hasn't passed the tests.
