Hi,
local execution allows docker & subprocess docs

But in the case of Lightweight Python Component this is kinda limited and in some way weird.

Why open a subprocess and run the pipeline? why not just execute py components, as py functions?
This would allow to debug code, and all other benefits of a simple py execution.
Sure will not scale, but don't think that's the purpose of a local execution.

If this is only related to Kubeflow pipelines, perhaps this should be moved to #7465?
