XDG specifies the Secret Storage specification, which applications can interface with via libsecret and D-Bus. Currently, the only implementations of this commonly available are GNOME-Keyring and KWallet.
It would be fantastic if KBSecret could provide a platform-agnostic implementation of the standard (and as a potential benefit, it may drive up the adoption of Keybase).

While it would be nice to improve KBSecret's interoperability with standardized desktop services, doing so would probably require a great deal of shimming/compatibility work. As such, I'd like to see such efforts continue as 3rd party/external extensions of KBSecret, rather than as part of KBSecret itself (which should remain firstly a Ruby library and basic set of CLI tools).
I'll leave this open for people to contribute ideas to, but I'm generally 👎 on this sort of tight integration into the main library.
