ipycanvas compatibility for Python 3.6

Hello, I just wanted to ask: is ipycanvas not compatible for Python 3.6? I tried installing it using pip and then trying a basic command similar to below:

from ipycanvas import Canvas
canvas = Canvas(width=200, height=200)

And I get an error:
The '_canvas_manager' trait of a Canvas instance must be a _CanvasManager, but a value of class 'NoneType' (i.e. None) was specified.
