Creating a snap package for publishing on https://snapcraft.io/store would add a range of linux distro support and even other architectures (ARM).

Other architectures are not in reach, at least until there's a way to build with at least Qt 5.10 on core18 base snap. As a workaround the snap will include an AppImage based AppDir, like the current deb package. Downside of this, only amd64 arch is supported.

On hold until Qt 5.10 becomes available in the base. Maybe another way is to build Qt 5.10 from source, see #15 (comment) and https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/qt-dependencies/4879
