Making dense table denser using custom theme

I'm trying to make the dense table denser as described in https://hope-ui.com/docs/theming/customize-theme#styling-muti-parts-components (this is the old styling system).

Adjusting the padding of a cell works (commented part), but I can't make it work only for the "dense" table. Is there anything wrong with my "variants" syntax?

Hi, the v0.x theming API is not that powerful, you can't apply variants, only base styles like your commented part

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Looking forward to try 1.0 when it starts to be more complete.
