<span>Research Methods and Professional Practice</span>
<p style="text-align: justify">This module offers a strong foundation in research methods, equipping students with various tools and techniques to conduct practical research. It also provides extensive insight into the legal, social, ethical, and professional considerations applicable to computing projects. Students will use two core textbooks that comprehensively cover the subject, and continuous assessment throughout the module will facilitate interactions with peers and instructors. MSc students should note units 6 and 10 as they provide valuable pointers for their capstone project.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: left">This module is designed to equip students with the following skills and knowledge:</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify">● Develop the capacity to examine and consider important research methodologies and concepts based on the scientific method pertinent to a variety of disciplines</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">● Develop the capacity to assess different research designs and methodologies concerning the projects already underway.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">● Gain the capacity to build research abilities, especially those related to data type collection and analysis, to support the critical planning and assessment of independent research.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">● Possess the chance to approach learning in a contemplative and autonomous manner.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: left">After completing this module, students will acquire the following skills:</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify">1. Evaluate computer professionals' ethical, social, legal, and professional concerns.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">2. Evaluate the fundamentals of scholarly inquiry and apply them to a computer science research subject.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">3. Critically assess the body of research on the selected issue, methodology, and study design, including data analysis procedures.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">4. Write a research proposal and assess it critically for the selected subject.</p>
