Retropi Gunconf loading issue

When I launch Gunconf it loads and tells me that it detected the gun and to pull the trigger to configure then it just sits at "gun detected loading configuration" . It isn't frozen because I can select quit. I have have let it sit like that over night and it still never loads.

im messing with one also. this guy quit working on this long ago. its a permission issue not letting the app read the gun. try setting it up on a windows pc first

Was this solved? Is setup on a Windows pc enough? Or are different permissions needed?

I tried setting up the gun in Windows first, but that didn't solve the issue for me. Has anyone gotten this to work?
