I recently compiled a copy of the exhale USAC/xHE-AAC encoder on my MacBook Air M1 and have tried using it with fre:ac 1.1.7 (ARM64) to encode music files for my Apple Watch. After following the instructions for installing external encoders, exhale appears in the application and I am able to select a bitrate, akin to any other format. However, when I attempt to then encode something from a FLAC file, I get an output folder in the usual place, but no music inside of it. The app progress bar "looks" as though something is happening, but I never see an output file. Any ideas of what might be going wrong?
