Suggestion for Re-categorization of KDD in CSRankings

I am writing to provide a constructive suggestion regarding the categorization of the KDD (Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining) within the CSRankings repository. I have been following the repository with great interest and have found it to be an invaluable resource for understanding the landscape of computer science research.

In the current categorization scheme, KDD is listed under "Machine Learning." While KDD certainly intersects with machine learning, it also has strong ties to the field of "The Web & Information Retrieval." Given the significant overlap and contributions KDD makes to the latter field, I believe it would be beneficial to reflect this relationship more accurately in the repository's categorization.

My suggestion is to consider moving KDD from the "Machine Learning" category to "The Web & Information Retrieval" category. This adjustment would better align with the multidisciplinary nature of KDD and its applications in web technologies and information retrieval systems.

I understand that changes to categorizations may require careful consideration. Therefore, I am open to any discussion or further information that you may need from me to support this suggestion.
